Born in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1955, the oldest of 5 children, Bernadette is a 10th generation Native New Mexican and can trace her ancestry on her mother’s side to the first Spanish settlers. On her father’s side she can trace her ancestry to the early Native American Indians. Bernadette’s grandmother the late Eliza Valencia-Benavidez, was ½ Picuris Pueblo Indian. Bernadette delights all of her audiences. Native American, Latino and Hispanic audiences are especially thrilled with her leadership and stories of inspiration.
